Partner Richard Cannon comments on the Attorney General’s investigation into the SFO, in Law360, following an appellate judgment quashing the bribery conviction of Zaid Akle.

Richard’s comments were published in Law360, 10 January 2022, and can be found here.

“One of the issues they will want to look at is whether there were contacts with third parties where there were no proper notes made,” Cannon said. “Normally something has to physically exist to be disclosed.”

“One of the problems here is the time lag. You could end with conclusions published in 2023, which is up to four years after the alleged misconduct. And what sometimes happens is life and events have moved on,” Cannon said.
