Noam Almaz, Solicitor at Stokoe Partnership Solicitors, has secured a successful outcome for his client, who has been discharged and will not be extradited to Romania.

Noam represented the client at every stage of the proceedings, including the full hearing.

The client said: “Beyond the legal procedures, however, I want to express my deepest gratitude for what you have truly achieved for me. You did not just win a case against an unjust system; you restored my dignity and gave me a new lease on life.

At a time when my health was fragile and the injustice felt overwhelming, your professionalism and humanity were the pillars that kept me standing.

It was an honour to be represented by you. I am now focusing on my recovery, as you suggested, enjoying the freedom and peace of mind that you helped me regain.”

The case concerned an extradition request from Romania relating to a historic conviction. It was successfully argued on the client’s behalf that the proceedings which led to the activation of his sentence were fundamentally unfair, including because he had not been given the opportunity to participate.

The court accepted these submissions and found that extradition would be unjust.

Following the outcome, the client is now focusing on his recovery and rebuilding his life.
